Tamao Mitsurugi (御剣 珠緒, Mitsurugi Tamao) is a young girl who dreams of one day being like her idol, Yuka Takeuchi. To that end, she has tirelessly spent her spare time practicing amateur Karate and attempting to copy Yuka's various techniques. She somehow gained the ability to control her energy before her fourteenth birthday.
Personality
Much like Yuka Takeuchi, Tamao is a hard working, honest and generally outgoing girl, which allows her to make friends easily. However, she is clumsy, forgetful and tends to act before thinking things through.
Biography
Tamao Mitsurugi is an obsessed fan girl who entered the tournament to meet and fight Yuka Takeuchi. She is also an admirer of her fighting style (so that both are almost alike). The fact that Tamao has developed the power of aura and is only 14 years old is pretty unusual for a girl her age (what a difference 2 years make between her and Manami Kusunoki!).
As mentioned before, Yuka and Tamao seem very much alike (which confused Satomi Yajima once). Yuka is kinda of like a big sister to her. She refers to Yuka as her "Senpai" [Something a younger person would say to someone who is older and more educated.]
Special Attacks
- Kikoudan: A one-handed fireball, similar to Yuka's. An imitation of Yuka's own technique; since it is an imitation, it does not travel full-screen. EX version does multiple hits.
- Souryugeki: A rising uppercut with the leading hand, followed by a quick uppercut from the other hand. EX version launches higher.
- Kusenkyaku: Tamao jump-kicks her opponent; the "strong" variant does 3 kicks. EX version gives greater knockback.
- Pokopoko Midare Uchi: Tamao jumps up onto her standing opponent's shoulders, and rapidly punches at her head.
- And Punch!: Punch followup. Tamao jumps down and rushes forward with a straight punch to her opponent.
- And Kick!: Kick followup. Tamao brings her legs back and kicks her opponent in the head.
- Lightning Crash: Fires a large electric beam.
Etymology
- The name Tamao means "bead, pearl, gem, jewel" (珠) (tama) and "thread" (緒) (o).
- Tamao's surname Mitsurugi means "honorable" (御) (mi) and "sword, blade, saber, bayonet, sting, clock hand" (剣) (tsurugi).
